My focus is upon inspiring confidence, trust and self belief - the foundations of achievement on any playing field.
I have specialised as a coach, consultant and facilitator for over 40 years. With a degree in Physical Education and LTA coaching qualifications, I was one of the first coaches in England to be trained in The Inner Game by Tim Gallwey (1979). Being one of only a handful of coaches to be authorised by him, I subsequently coached tennis for fifteen years, working with all ages and abilities and leading workshops in both England and abroad. Continuing to work alongside the country’s pioneers of performer-centred coaching Sir John Whitmore, Graham Alexander, Ben Cannon, Alan Fine, Myles Downey and David Hemery in the 1980s, I was fortunate to gain invaluable experience in the business context.
I founded Optimise in 1993 and have continued to apply the generic skills and philosophy of coaching to facilitate learning, development and change in a wide variety of business organisations from the public, private and voluntary sectors - from global investment banks, to high-street retail, to charities, to the Church of England and to Education.
For the last ten years I have returned to my first passion. Through my involvement with 21st Century Legacy since its inception in 2006, I have been able to focus on education. I led Staff Development Days; Solution Focussed Workshops; Coaching Workshops at Conferences; alongside providing individual coaching for Heads and SLTs.
Partners
On larger scale projects I work with long-term colleagues whose coaching philosophy and ways of work align closely with mine. We coach individuals enabling them to understand themselves more and to realise their aspirations. We facilitate teams helping them discover more effective ways of working together and we train leaders, managers and teachers in coaching skills. We help organisations to engage the true potential of their staff.
