Training in Coaching Skills

Our workshops are for leaders/managers/sports coaches/teachers who want to deepen their knowledge of the art of coaching, improve the flexibility of their approach and increase their effectiveness.

We offer a bespoke and comprehensive programme for organisations from a menu of: attachments, upward appraisals, the two/three day training workshop itself, consolidation days and reviews in order that the skill of coaching is transferred effectively to the chosen levels of the organisation. Most especially, the programme is designed with the client to ensure appropriateness, compatibility with other initiatives and to encourage ownership.

Whilst the course will explore current theory, significant time is given to the practice and observation the subtleties of performer-centred coaching drawn from the fundamental skills of: asking open questions, listening, summarising, goal setting and giving effective feedback. Particpants practise using the GROW Model. We explore the qualities and attributes needed to coach effectively (such as Emotional Intelligence) and review lessons from advancement in neuroscience.

The two/three day workshop often includes learning tennis as the coaching metaphor. The aim is to give the participants an experience of helping others learn and develop, using the simple yet powerful principles of The Inner Game. There is particular emphasis on ‘live’ practice on the course in order that the transition back to the workplace is relatively effortless. It is important to include where coaching fits into the overall business context and for participants to develop specific plans for implementation of the skills they have learned.
